TabAdult & childn >12 yrMild to moderate infection 625 mg bd. Severe infection 1 g bd. Oral suspChildn 25 mg/kg daily in divided doses 8 hrly, 1-6 yr (10-18 kg) 5 mL tds, <1 yr 25 mg/kg daily, may be increased up to 50 mg/kg daily in divided doses 8 hrly.
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins or β-lactamase inhibitors. Previous history of amoxycillin-clavulanate or penicillin-associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.
Hypersensitivity to other β-lactam antibiotics. GI disease especially pseudomembranous colitis & infectious mononucleosis. Hepatic dysfunction, moderate or severe renal impairment. Pregnancy (especially 1st trimester), lactation.
J01CR02 - amoxicillin and beta-lactamase inhibitor ; Belongs to the class of penicillin combinations, including beta-lactamase inhibitors. Used in the systemic treatment of infections.
